Chamber Spotlight: Page Co Farm Bureau Federation

Andy Caviness was recently named new agent of the year for District 6 by Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Services. Mr. Caviness works out of the office located at 239 East Main Street in Luray and also received honors as second runner-up for state new agent of the year.

VFBI provides insurance and financial planning services to Virginia families and businesses. The organization has 148,000 members.

Congratulations to Andy Caviness! We are happy to have the Page County Farm Bureau Federation/Insurance as a member of the Chamber.

             

Farmers Market Opens May 3

It's almost that time again -- time to head to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings in search of fresh vegetables, fruits and baked goods along with many many other items. They will open May 3 from 9 am – 1 pm at their regular location beside Evergreen Outfitters. Set-up usually begins around 8:30 am by serving breakfast.  Enjoy breakfast, lunch and entertainment meet.

Remember on May 10, they will be located in the Town parking lot for the Festival of Spring. The Market has invited Chamber members to lunch June 28 from 10 am to noon. This is a benefit for Chamber members – networking – eating and supporting the Farmers Market!

Applicant MUST have a Masters degree AND 18 graduate semester hours in accounting.

Successful applicant would teach Principles of Accounting I in the fall 2008 semester and Principles of Accounting II in the Spring 2009 semester.  Teaching experience preferred.

Apr 25: Community Meeting on Underage Drinking Prevention, 7 pm, Shenandoah Community Center. Guest speakers will share local statistics from the national Pride Youth Survey their experiences and the impact that underage drinking has on the community. Page Alliance for Community Action, Page County Public Schools, and Page County Recreation Department are collaborating with the Federal Government’s Interagency Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Underage Drinking to sponsor this event.  Parents, youth, teachers, officials, and community members are invited. Following the meeting, students 14 years old and over will be invited to stay and attend the Page County Recreation Department “Teens Night Out” – an alcohol-free night of musical entertainment.
