Chamber takes the lead with 'Go Green' project

Tom Griffith (VA DEQ, Office of Pollution Prevention) will come to Page County and give a presentation on the “Go Green” Concept!  Save the date of May 16 from 10 – Noon.  (Location to be determined).  Join in on a 30-minute presentation on “Go Green," as well as a Question and Answer Session.

As Earth Day 2008 approaches, VTC is preparing a major marketing push of Virginia Green – the state's effort to reduce the environmental impact of tourism and travel businesses.

According to a recent study, 58.5 million U.S. travelers (38%) would pay more to use travel companies that strive to protect and preserve the environment.

Virginia Green is the first step in helping businesses not only realize the cost savings associated with sound environmental practices but also in encouraging the expansion of those practices in their business—thus satisfying the discerning traveler.

LPCCC is committed to leading our community in the Green movement. Please join us to learn how your business can be part of this exciting venture.

DEQ is beginning a study of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and Naked Creek to investigate benthic impairment.  This study will determine the pollutant responsible for the impairment, identify various sources of that pollutant, estimate the amount coming from each source, and figure out how each source would have to decrease to meet water quality standards.
